LG dishwasher display · also shown as E1 What to do when AE shows on the dishwasher ### Kind of code Leak detected Water has reached the base pan under the tub and tripped the float that stops the cycle. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch off the circuit breaker before touching anything under the machine. 02 Remove the kick plate (two screws) and soak up the water in the base pan; if you cannot reach it, leave the plate off for a day or two so it can dry. 03 Check for the usual causes LG names — too much or the wrong detergent, a dirty door gasket, a clogged spray arm, a machine out of level — then reset the breaker and run an empty cycle. 04 If AE returns with the right detergent and a clean gasket, book a visit. ### Still there? Switch off the circuit breaker before touching anything under the machine. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Could the soap I used have set off AE on my LG dishwasher? Quite possibly: sink soap or too much dishwasher detergent makes foam, and LG counts that overflow among the reasons water reaches the float in the base pan. A grimy door seal, a blocked spray arm or an uneven machine can do the same, so go through those too. ### How do I know my LG is dry enough to try again after AE? The base pan under the kick plate has to be empty before the float can drop and let the machine run.
