Make sure the supply valve is open and the water line is not bent, especially on a new installation.
Check that the drain hose end sits high enough; LG asks for more than 10 inches above the bottom of the machine, or water can siphon out while it fills.
If the machine is in a spot that can freeze, thaw the line with a towel soaked in warm water.
If IE keeps appearing after those checks, book a visit.

Do not overlook a flood-stop hose or check valve on the supply line. LG says these fittings can interrupt the fill and suggests a standard inlet hose instead.
