What the dishwasher circulation pump and wash motor repair
involves.
The circulation pump, often called the wash motor, pulls water from the sump and pushes it through the spray arms and the upper wash tube. When it weakens, dishes on the top rack come out dirty while the bottom rack looks acceptable; when it fails, the machine fills, sits silent and drains. On many current designs the heater is built into the same pump housing, so one part covers both. Before the pump is replaced, the spray arms, the filter and the feed tube are cleared, because a blocked path starves a healthy motor.
