What is particular
to ASKO.

The US range includes built-in models with visible or hidden controls and fully integrated models behind a cabinet panel. Asko builds an internal air gap and high loop into the machine, so the drain layout under the sink can be simpler than on other brands.

Usually on the cold water line

Asko recommends a cold water connection in homes heated by gas, oil or electricity, and allows hot water only where the home's heat comes from a source such as solar or geothermal. A cold connection means longer cycles, and a technician checks this before calling a long cycle a heating problem.

The yellow drain pump stop

Under the filters sits a yellow drain pump stop that has to be in place. Removing it gives access to the pump wheel, and a missing stop, or an object caught behind it, is a common reason for F11 or F68 drain messages.

Overflow guard

If the water level rises past normal, the overflow guard pumps out and closes the supply, and the display shows F54. The water supply valve should be turned off before the machine is unplugged.

Auto door open

Many programs open the door during drying. The door must not be pushed shut while it is opening, and Asko asks you to wait at least five minutes, because forcing it can damage the door lock.

Parts

Parts are ordered by the full model number, including the .U suffix that marks a US model. A photo of the rating label on the door edge helps, because Asko model variants differ in panel, handle and control layout.

Repair or replace

Most drain, inlet and heater problems on an Asko are worth repairing. On an older machine with a leaking tub or a failed control board, the age and the part decide it.

My Asko shows F11 and there is water in the bottom. What can I check?

Take out the coarse and fine filters, make sure the yellow drain pump stop is in place, and look for anything caught at the pump wheel behind it. Also check that the drain hose is not kinked. If the message comes back after that, book a visit.

My Asko shows F54 or F40. Is that serious?

Treat it as a leak. F54 means the overflow guard has reacted and F40 means the inlet valve is letting water through when it should not. Turn off the water supply valve first, then unplug the machine, and keep it off until it is checked.

Why does my Asko take so long to finish?

Asko recommends a cold water connection in most homes, so the machine heats all of its own water, and programs with Auto door open include a drying phase that can add time. A long cycle on its own is not a sign of a problem.

Does my Asko need an air gap on the sink?

Usually not. Asko builds an internal air gap and a high loop into the machine, so an external air gap is only needed where local building codes require one.
