What is particular
to Bosch.

The 300 and 500 Series dry by condensation, while the 800 Series adds a zeolite container that absorbs moisture and releases heat into the tub. Knowing which one you have tells the technician whether a drying complaint points at settings or at the drying system itself.

Droplets after the cycle can be normal

On models that dry by condensation, moisture settles on the tub walls, runs down and is pumped out. A few drops left in the tub are part of that design, while dishes that come out wet are usually a rinse aid or cycle choice before they are a failed part.

Two ways of reporting a problem

Models without a display signal a problem by lighting or flashing a row of LEDs together, while display models show a code such as E:61-03 or E:30-00. Read out exactly what the panel shows, because the same pattern can mean a blocked drain on one model and a water-supply problem on another.

A water protection system in the base

When the display shows E:30-00 or E:31-00, the water protection system has reacted, which usually means water has collected in the base pan. The manual's instruction is to close the supply valve and have the machine looked at, not to reset it and carry on.

Drain problems that are not the dishwasher

Bosch lists a still-plugged garbage disposal knockout, a kinked hose and a missing high loop as causes of a drain code, and asks for part of the drain hose to sit at least 33 inches above the floor. On a new installation these are checked before the pump.

Parts

Pumps, valves and controls are ordered by the model number (E-Nr.) and the production number (FD) on the rating label. A photo of that label before the visit lets the right part come on the first trip.

Repair or replace

Most Bosch repairs, such as a drain pump, an inlet valve or a door seal, are worth doing on a machine of any reasonable age. A leaking tub or a failed control on an older 300 Series is where replacement becomes a fair question.

There is water in the bottom of my Bosch after the cycle. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. A thin film of droplets on the tub walls is how condensation drying works, and Bosch describes it as normal. Standing water that covers the filter is different, and usually means a blocked filter, a kinked hose or a drain problem worth a visit.
All the lights on my Bosch are on at once. What does that mean?
On models without a display, several LEDs lighting together is how the machine reports a problem. Depending on the pattern it can be a closed water supply, a kinked drain hose or a loose drain pump cover. Note whether the lights are steady or flashing before you book a visit.
My new Bosch will not drain. Is the pump bad?
Check the installation first. A garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed, a kinked hose or a drain hose without a high loop all stop a Bosch from draining, and the manual names each of them as the cause of a drain code rather than a failed part.
My Bosch shows E:30-00 or E:31-00. Can I clear it myself?
Close the water supply valve and leave it off. Those codes mean the water protection system in the base has reacted, which points at a leak inside the machine that needs to be found before it runs again.
