ZLINE, designed in Lake Tahoe, sells three dishwasher families: the Top Control DW models, the Tallac series in 18 and 24 inch, and the 24-inch Monument series, each in panel-ready, stainless and colored-panel versions, with Autograph Edition variants that add designer handles. The families use different code tables, so the series and the full model code matter more than the finish on the door.

What is particular
to ZLINE.

Top Control DW models (24 inch, 52 dBA), Tallac DWV (18 and 24 inch, 51 dBA) and Monument DWMT (24 inch, 44–45 dBA), across panel-ready, stainless, black stainless, copper and painted panels. ZLINE publishes separate manuals for DWMT Monument models and for the newer DWS324 Monument models, so the model plate decides which one applies.

Three series, three code lists

Tallac models show F-codes such as F1 for overflow, F2 for a drain that cannot empty and FF for water inlet. Monument DWMT models use E1 for slow fill, E4 for overflow and Ed for a communication problem, and the newer Monument DWS324 adds E3 for heating, E8 for the diverter valve and E9 for a stuck button. The same letter means different things across series.

A door that opens itself to dry

Tallac and Monument models have Auto Door Open drying: with the option on, the door opens at the end of the program to let steam out, with a pattern of beeps. A door found ajar after a cycle is the feature working, not a latch that has let go.

Water in the base pan

On Monument models, E4 means water has collected in the base of the dishwasher from a leak or an overfill. ZLINE's manual says that water must be removed completely before the machine is restarted, or the code will keep coming back, so the leak has to be found, not just the code cleared.

A timer on the floor and bottle jets

The newer Monument models project the remaining time onto the floor and show END there for about 15 minutes after the cycle, and they have built-in bottle washer nozzles. An item left over a bottle nozzle can block the spray arm, which shows up as a poor wash on one rack.

Parts

Parts are matched to the series and full model code; a Monument DWMT and a Monument DWS324 are covered by different manuals with different code lists. Panel and handle finishes are ordered as they were sold, so note the finish code from the model number as well.

Repair or replace

Usually worth repairing on a current model when the problem is the inlet, the drain, the heater or a leak into the base pan. On a machine with a control or communication code that keeps returning after a power reset, weigh the board against the age of the unit.

ZLINE dishwashers.

The door of my ZLINE dishwasher opened by itself at the end of the cycle. Is the latch broken?
Not if Auto Door is switched on. On Tallac and Monument models that option opens the door at the end of the program to help drying, and the dishwasher beeps to say so. If the door opens in the middle of a cycle, or will not stay shut, that is a latch problem worth a visit.
My Monument dishwasher shows E4. What should I do?
E4 means the overflow protection has found water in the base. Turn the dishwasher off and shut off the water supply. The water in the base pan has to be removed before a restart, and the leak itself needs finding, so book a visit rather than clearing the code and running it again.
My Tallac shows F1 and it keeps flashing.
F1 on a Tallac is the overflow warning. The manual says it flashes while the overflow continues and clears once the machine is safe; if it does not clear, the problem is permanent and needs a technician. Unplug the dishwasher and close the tap in the meantime.
My Monument shows E9. What does it mean?
On the newer Monument DWS324 models, E9 means a control button has been held for more than 30 seconds, from something resting on the panel or moisture on it. Remove anything touching the panel, dry it and restart. If E9 comes back with the panel clear and dry, book a visit.
