What is particular
to Cove.

Cove's design guide lists two models, the DW2450 and the DW2450WS with a water softener, and both take a custom panel or a Cove stainless panel. Whether yours has the softener changes both the maintenance and the messages on the display.

Numbered codes that point to one system

Cove shows "Check manual" codes with six digits: #800140 sends you to the drain, and #560186 or #560187 to the water supply. A "Call Service" code such as #600148, #600149 or #600151 is the dishwasher asking for a technician, and the exact number saves time on the visit.

Clean Filter is a counter

The Clean Filter message appears after 30 cycles whatever the state of the filter, and Cancel clears it. It is a reminder, not a sensor, so a Cove that washes poorly without the message may still have a blocked filter under the lower spray arm.

Softener models regenerate first

On softener models the dishwasher regenerates on its own before a wash when needed, which takes about 20 minutes and shows "Water softener active. Press Start". A Cove that seems to wait before washing is often doing exactly that, and it will also ask for salt when the reservoir runs low.

The panel has a weight limit

Cove's design guide caps a custom panel at 20 pounds including the handle, with under 16 pounds optimal, and requires tall kickplates to be notched for airflow. A door that drops open hard or will not stay where it is put often traces back to a heavy panel rather than the dishwasher itself.

Parts

Cove's stainless accessory panels come in two widths and two heights for a 4-inch or 6-inch toe kick, so a replacement panel is ordered by the opening and toe-kick size. A custom wood panel comes from the cabinet maker, not from Cove.

Repair or replace

Cove's own written coverage runs five years from installation, so check the date first. After that, a Cove fitted into custom cabinetry is almost always worth repairing rather than replacing.

My Cove shows "Check manual, Code #800140". What does that mean?
Cove ties that code to the drain. Check that the drain is clear of debris and that the drain line is not kinked. If the code comes back after that, book a visit and give the technician the code exactly as shown.
Why does my Cove wait before it starts washing?
If yours is a water-softener model, it may be regenerating. Cove says that when needed, this runs automatically before the next wash, takes about 20 minutes, and shows "Water softener active" on the display. The wash starts once it is done.
The display says "Clean Filter." Is my filter blocked?
Not necessarily. Cove shows that message after every 30 cycles as a reminder, whatever state the filter is in. Clean the filter anyway, as it sits under the lower spray arm, then touch Cancel to reset the message.
Why won't my Cove's door stay in place when I open it?
Check the panel first. Cove limits custom panels to 20 pounds including the handle and recommends under 16. A heavier panel, or one added after installation, can overload the door, and that is worth a visit to check.
