What is particular
to Thermador.

Sapphire sits at the top with the softener, StarDry and interior lighting, while Emerald is the entry family without a softener. Telling the technician which family you have tells them whether salt, zeolite and the light system are even part of the picture.

A water softener that runs on salt

The Sapphire models soften water in the machine using special dishwasher salt poured into a reservoir in the tub floor. An empty reservoir or the wrong salt shows up as white film on glasses and on the tub, not as a mechanical symptom.

StarDry and its intake opening

StarDry dries with zeolite, a mineral that holds moisture, and the system draws air through an opening on the right inside wall of the tub. A tall platter standing in front of that opening can trigger an error code and leave the load wet.

Push 2x to open

Handleless and panel models can be set to open with a double push on the door. When that setting is on, a door that seems not to latch or a machine that will not start is often the setting rather than the latch.

The interior light as a signal

On models with the Star Glow light, the light can be set to flash when the machine detects a problem. A flashing interior light is therefore a message to read on the display, not a lighting failure.

Parts

Thermador parts are ordered by the full model number on the rating label. Custom panels and handles belong to the kitchen and are handled with the same care during a door or seal repair.

Why does my Thermador need salt?
Sapphire models have a built-in water softener, and it regenerates with special dishwasher salt. Use only dishwasher salt, never table salt or detergent, in the reservoir. If glasses come out with a white film and the salt light is on, refilling the reservoir comes before any repair.
My Thermador will not start even though the door is closed. What should I check?
Check whether Push 2x to open is switched on, whether a delayed start is set, and whether the door was closed before a cycle was chosen. On models with hidden controls, the door has to be opened to change a setting and closed again afterward.
The light inside my Thermador is flashing. Is the light broken?
Probably not. On models with the adjustable interior light, one setting makes the light flash when the machine detects a problem. Look at the display for the message it is showing and read it out when you book a visit.
Why are my dishes wet after a StarDry cycle?
Check that nothing stands in front of the zeolite intake opening on the right inside wall and that the rinse aid is filled. If both are fine and the load still comes out wet, the drying system is worth a visit.
