What is particular
to JennAir.

JennAir offers the dishwasher in RISE and NOIR designs, with a pocket handle, or ready for custom milled panels. Current models add a high-capacity third level rack with wash and options such as Door Open Dry and a heated-water drying option, so the exact model matters before any drying or top-rack complaint is diagnosed.

Controls you cannot see from the front

Hidden, touch-activated controls sit flush on the top of the door. When a JennAir looks completely dead, JennAir's own first check is the Control Lock, which stops every touch from registering and may show a red padlock; on a new install the next suspect is loose wiring at the terminal block.

Three-stage filtration

A coarse filter, a large filter screen and a fine filter cup keep food out of the pump and off the dishes. On models with this filter stack, the upper assembly turns a quarter turn counterclockwise to lift out for rinsing, and a soft brush handles hard-water deposits.

Wash zones that take turns

Current JennAir models pair pressurized wash arms with alternating wash action across four wash zones. When one rack washes poorly and the others come out clean, the search narrows to that zone's water path rather than the pump as a whole.

Custom panels and inside lighting

The custom panel and handle are bought separately and fitted to the door, so the door front is cabinet work as well as appliance work. Inside, the LED lights switch themselves off when the door has been open more than ten minutes, and some models let you turn them off in settings.

Parts

Mechanical parts come from the same family supply as the sister brands and are generally available. The black Obsidian racks, trim and anything tied to the custom panel are the slower items to source.

My JennAir dishwasher shows no lights and ignores every touch. Is the control board gone?
Check the Control Lock first: when it is on, the controls will not respond at all and a red padlock may be lit, which looks like a dead unit. If it is off, disconnect power for 30 seconds and reconnect it. If the dishwasher was just installed, loose wiring at the terminal block is the next suspect, and that is a job for a technician.
Where is the filter on a JennAir, and how do I clean it?
On models with a removable filter, turn the upper filter assembly a quarter turn counterclockwise, lift it out and separate it, then rinse it under running water; a soft brush helps with hard-water deposits. JennAir suggests cleaning the dishwasher about every 30 days.
The interior lights on my JennAir stopped coming on.
The lights turn off by themselves when the door has been open for more than ten minutes. Close the door, wait about 30 seconds and open it again. Some models also let you switch the lights off in the settings menu, so check that before booking a visit.
Does a JennAir dishwasher detect leaks?
Current models include a system that assists in detecting most types of leaks. If it finds one, the dishwasher can stop filling, drain the tub and alert you. Treat that alert as a reason to book a visit rather than restarting the cycle.
